Multiple Players Team Up to Lead Saratoga Racers Past Boston Sharks

Tobias Holmes and Donavan Williams teamed up to lead Saratoga Racers past Boston Sharks, 161-124, on Sunday at Dana Barros Basketball Club to improve to 5-3 on the season. Williams scored 15 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and gave out 13 assists getting the first ever triple-double in Saratoga Racers history; while Holmes scored 39 points. Every player that played on Sunday for the Racers scored in double figures. Saratoga Racers controlled the game from the opening tip, never giving up the advantage. The lead reached a peak of 48 points at 106-58. Saratoga Racers scored at will in the paint. They went 48-77 from inside the Arc. The Racers controlled the glass, collecting 66 rebounds; Isaiah Grandison led the team with 16 rebounds. Saratoga Racers passed the ball well with 41 assists on 63 made baskets. Williams led the team with 13 assists. Saratoga Racers swiped 15 steals in the game. Williams led the team with seven steals. Additional scorers for Saratoga Racers included Rosa (32 points), Keishaun Wheelings (25 points), Cam Thomas (19 points), Grandison (18 points), Williams (15 points), and Luke Perez (13 points). Saratoga Racers will travel to Hudson Valley Rivermen for their next game on Saturday (1/17) at Sullivan County Community College and will face the Herkimer Originals on Sunday (1/18) at Herkimer County Community College. Saratoga Racers lost to the Binghamton Bulldogs, 127-109, in a game featuring 11 lead changes on Saturday at The Bulldog Sports Complex suffering their 2nd straight loss and falling to 4-3 on the season. All three of the Racers losses this season have come to teams currently ranked in the top 20 of the ABA’s weekly Power Rankings. Trailing 25-20, Binghamton Bulldogs went on a 15-point run to take the lead. John Ryals III scored 24 points to lead Saratoga Racers. Saratoga Racers scored at will in the paint, shooting 38-65 on twos and 9-26 (35%) from beyond the arc. Saratoga Racers pressured the ball all game, collecting 17 steals.
